San Huberto is located 45 minutes north of the town of San Martin de los Andes. The 8 double bedroom lodge sits in the middle of a 25 thousand acre ranch called Tres Picos (Three Peaks) in which 20 miles of the majestic Malleo River flows right through it. The Malleo is a small stream, easy to wade, crystal clear, spring fed in many places, where one can often sight fish for rising trout. This "hunt" is done in the shadows of the Lanin Volcano, a 12 thousand foot snow capped mountain that dominates the entire landscape. By far, one of the most beautiful places in the world to fly-fish! |

We suggest you bring your favorite 9 foot 4 and 5 wt. rods. Most of the fishing done here is delicately done on top so WF floating lines are a must, often accompanied by 4 and 5x tippets on 12 foot leaders. We also suggest you bring a 6wt. rod for those windy Patagonian days. The flies to bring are: Parachute Adams, Elk Hair Caddis, Wulff patterns, Hendrickson type dry-flies, BWO dries, Foam Beetles, Parachute Ants, Rusty Spinners, small Hoppers, BH Prince nymphs, BH Pheasant Tail nymphs, BH Copper John nymphs, BH Caddis Pupaes, and any of your favorite dries and nymphs. |
