Tipiliuke Lodge
The ranch

Originally settled by a French family in the late 1800´s, the 40 thousand acre ranch called Cerro de los Pinos (Pine Hill) embraces miles of the world famous Chimehuin River. Tipiliuke, the name of the lodge, is located 20 minutes north of San Martin de los Andes and it hosts clients in their 6 double bedrooms and 3 single rooms. The Chimehuin is a medium to larger size crystal clear river that offers any choice of fishing a client may favor. You can catch fish on dries, nymphs and streamers in a consistent matter. This river is famous for its large yellow mayfly hatch that starts in the middle of December and lasts well into February. These large yellow mayflies (sizes #4 and #6), called Chiloporters, hatch in large numbers between 15 and 20 minutes before darkness, setting off a feeding frenzy! We believe Tipiliuke to be not only an outstanding fly-fishing lodge but a great lodge for other activities as well such as horseback riding, hiking and even shopping being located so close to San Martin de los Andes.

Equipment

9 foot 5 and 6 wt. rods are a must! They have to be matched by WF Floating lines accompanied by 2 to 5x tippets on 9 foot leaders. We also suggest you bring along a 200 grain sinking tip fly line to be able to get deep with those streamers. The flies to bring are: Parachute Adams, Elk Hair Caddis and Wulff patterns. Terrestrials such as ants, beetles and hoppers, large dries such as Chernobyls and foam patterns, BH nymphs, rubber legged Wooly Buggers and minnow patterns.
